A look back at 2021

SUSTAINABILITY

In 2021, we revisited our Sustainability Strategy, aligning this with the Strategic Framework of the 2030 Commitment of the AdP Group, the 17 SDGs and the commitments assumed under the auspices of the UN Global Compact and integrated into a reflection on the expectations of interested stakeholders alongside the consolidation of the best existing practices.

GOVERNANCE

We formalised the AdP Group Integrity Commitment based on a model of governance incorporating higher ethical standards, transparency, responsibility and excellence in public management practices. The respective different internal bodies and instruments were reviewed and updated in 2021 and the governance structure was strengthened through the establishing of an Ethics Board.

INNOVATION

Innovation is a factor for enabling and accelerating the commitment of the AdP Group for the decade. The 360º Innovation Strategy was unveiled in 2021 and came to add a proactive component to the actions of our companies in an integrated organisational model with structured financing that is estimated to rise to one million euros.

ACTING FOR THE CLIMATE

Within the framework of the sustainable management of water, we implemented a climate action strategy that integrates adaptation measures, with a particular emphasis on boosting the resilience of water supply systems and the production of water for reutilisation (ApR), into mitigating actions that achieve energy neutrality by 2030 through the ZERO program

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Within the context of managing water scarcity and adaptation to climate change and nurturing the circular economy, this highlights the drafting of the Action Plan for Reutilisation and regional plans that study the viability of water reutilisation within the context of each particular operating company.

IMPACT

2021 saw the launch of the “VERDES” VISÃO + Águas de Portugal Awards”, under the Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic, which seeks to raise the profile and reward best practices in the environmental field and the examples of excellence that stand out for their contribution towards the environment and sustainable development within the framework of the current climate emergency.
